People and places in Australia: Western Australia

This vast state has so much to offer that it's hard to try and list even a few of the places to go.

Lets start with the Kimberleys in the north - unspoiled, rugged and wild. The coastline and islands are spectacular ... it's a wonder that the rest of the world has not discovered this magic region.

The unique towns like Derby and Wyndham take you back in time.

Kununurra is more modern and is the centre of the Ord River irrigation scheme.

The Bungle Bungles are but one of the many spectacular national parks, and Broome, an old pearling port, is the boom town of northern WA.

Heading south some of the great things to see include ....
* Ningaloo Reef and its whale sharks and turtles
* Shark Bay and the famous dolphins at Monkey Mia
* The Kalbarri National Park with its gorges and spring wildflowers
* The Pinnacles Desert
* Wave Rock, a curling branded rock and other interesting formations near Hyden

Perth ... is a place where people head across the Nullarbor to visit, and end up making the crossing a one way trip - they just fall in love with it.
